Mahie Gill Shared Her Experience Of Casting Couch, Said A Filmmaker Wanted To See Her In A ‘Nightie’

These days various actresses are opening up on the casting couch in Bollywood. We recently told you about how Radhika Apte shared her casting couch experience.

And now actress Mahie Gill has come up with her statement on the existing casting couch in Bollywood. The “Dev.D” actress discussed the prevalent casting couch which she had to face during her struggling period.

As per a report, Mahie explained how a filmmaker once asked her to wear a ‘nightie’ and tried to harass her. She said:

“It happened to me a few times. I don’t even remember the name of the directors. I had to meet a director, so I wore a salwar suit and went, and he told me, ‘If you wear a suit and come, nobody is going to cast you in a film.’ Then, I met another director and he tells me, ‘I want to see how you look in a nightie’. So, you see, there are idiots all around.”

She also explained that when she was a newbie in Mumbai she didn’t know who was right and who was wrong. She contended further, “And when people know you are new in the industry and struggling, while they’ve been sitting in Mumbai for so many years, you tend to listen to them.”
She further added that at one point she started to think that no one gets a role if one wears a suit (achha, aisa hota hai ki suit pehnne se role nahi milte aur koi kaam nahi dega).

Mahie is now a popular name in both Bollywood and the Punjabi film industry. She also won a Critics Award at the 2010 Filmfare Awards for her role in “Dev.D”.
